Priest and Ram Kangaroo were both primarily 'battle-taxis', the roles of
which were to advance to the objective under cover of accompanying tank
and artillery fire. It was, however, deemed necessary to equip each vehicle
with weapons which could used to defend against enemy infantry as well
as prep the objective and provide covering fire while the infantry were
debussing.
The weapons which were chosen
for this duty were the ubiquitous .30 and .50 calibre Browning machine
guns...
